Abstract
In introducing this theme issue on 'Psychoanalytic geographies', we offer brief reflections on the discipline's 'psychoanalytic turn', raise certain issues regarding this turn that intrigue us, and ponder the limits on what psychoanalysis can bring to studies of social and cultural geography. In the process, we provide a thumbnail outline of the contributions that follow.
