Abstract

Biometrics such as fingerprint and speech analysis has been widely used for applications like owner recognition for consumer products (e.g. personal computers) and applications such as online transactions. Palmprint analysis is a relatively less studied area of biometrics that has consumer applications in both the traditional domain of identification/authentication and palmistry, which may be of interest to segments of the society. This paper presents an image processing technique for palmprint alignment that is applicable to both types of applications.
