Abstract

A pilot study of longshore variation in pebble size on an Irish shingle ridge suggests that whilst high water-mark and ridge pebble size increases to the south reflect a simple southward increase in wave energy under northeast waves, size and sorting variations at low-water mark suggest a northward counter-drift under southerly waves.
