Abstract

This report forms the final part of an evaluation of the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives (SCHWL) which works with employers to enable them to understand, protect and improve the health of their employees and to support those with health problems who have re-entered work to remain in work.

The evaluation seeks to assess the impact of services that are provided to support employers and the Healthy Working Lives (HWL) award programme by identifying changes in their policies, procedures, behaviours and organisational performance. Building on the initial Theory of Change (ToC) published in June 2010, a three-tier evaluation strategy of an e-survey, telephone survey and in-depth case studies was completed.

This Final Report draws together the findings from each aspect of the study and reflects on the learning for future service development. The authors make a series of recommendations which relate to specific aspects of the SCHWL's activities. Adopting these recommendations would help the SCHWL to deliver on the long term goals set out in the original ToC.
