Abstract
This keynote discusses the potential of using music education activities as a tool for social and ethnic inclusion, drawing on an investigation carried out in Northern Ireland (NI) supported by the Bernard van Leer Foundation. The background, methodology and selected interview data from the NI enquiry are discussed. Practical implications are considered in the conclusions - which were linked to a workshop that was delivered later that day on their potential application to the schools context in Cyprus.
