Abstract
As part of my continuing attempts to develop a critical engagement with Cage theoretic, this paper will look at certain theories of technology contemporaneous with Cage - especially those of Marcuse and McLuhan - and examine the ideological and aesthetic implications of these theories for our reading of his music.
