Abstract

Qualitative approaches to forecasting generally are methods by which qualitative information form experts can be combined in order to make forecasts. Cross-impact analysis is such a qualitative forecasting method that is used form examining the impacts of potential future events upon each other. Given the complexity and interdependence which characterized tourism, cross-impact analysis seems to be a forecasting technique which is particularly relevant for tourism, and yet t appears to have been ignored in the tourism I the Azores, and illustrates how the technique may be used to assist with strategic planning.
