Abstract
Validation is a very important part of the model development process but receives little attention in much published material relating to simulation and modelling applications. This paper provides a review of the validation process and discusses practical difficulties which can arise in the application of validation techniques. Recommendations are given concerning procedures to be followed for effective validation and suggestions are made concerning new software tools.
