Abstract

An MQW SOA which has been designed for four-wave-mixing (FWM) applications is reported. In 40 Gbit/s system experiments, a 2 mm device was able to perform wavelength conversion over 24.6 nm. This is the largest reported wavelength translation at 40 Gbit/s FWM in an SOA.
