Abstract

Basics of the Non Smooth Contact Dynamics Method (NSCD) are reviewed and presented as a potential simulation methodology for the behaviour assessment of discontinuous blocky assemblies, with and without friction. The methodology is illustrated by lock-up simulations of the GCORE box-kite experiments series with interlocking acrylic brick assemblies and results are compared with experimental findings and the related finite element analysis.
