Abstract
In this chapter, I offer a synthesis of the findings from the book and its broader theoretical and empirical contribution to the literature on international mobility and migration. In particular, a focus is on how the discursive constructs outlined in Chapter Two create a scope for action which shapes the experiences of students. I also expand on how the study’s findings complicate an understanding of the socio-economic dimensions of international student mobility, providing a rich account of this less well-understood mobility pattern which challenges many of the axioms in the field. In addition, the chapter briefly discusses the future trajectory of Africa-China student mobility in light of recent developments, as well as highlighting several important, potentially fruitful, avenues for further research.
