Abstract

In this talk, Prof. Ghannam will share his group’s work on liquid crystals (LCs), particularly for extended reality (XR) devices, highlighting their pivotal role in developing advanced applications for educational and training purposes. He will also share his group’s work on the integration of AR/VR technologies in engineering education, demonstrating how these tools offer immersive, hands-on experiences that closely simulate real-world engineering challenges. Furthermore, he will explain how his team used sensors to gather real-time participant data within VR settings, offering a more precise measure of engagement than conventional surveys. He will also discuss the benefits of collaborative learning in engineering, facilitated by AR/VR technologies that enable team-based educational experiences. Lastly, he will address future opportunities and challenges in developing immersive educational experiences using AR/VR devices.
