Abstract

An age and gender street quota sample of 576 respondents was interviewed using standard fear of crime questions. An equal number of interviews was conducted at the end o f four consecutive seasons, and in two different cities. Responses indicate that a seasonal effect on the fear of crime cannot lightly be dismissed. Some implications for national crime surveying and for crime prevention evaluation research are tentatively suggested.
