Abstract

An exhibition of text, video, installation, and photography reflecting on humans’ interrelationships with the lithic materials that form and underpin the built environment, and a public discussion. The exhibition and public discussion focused specifically on the timescales and durability of anthropogenic lithic materials (e.g., concrete, tarmac, cement) and those of ‘natural’ geological formations (sandstone, granite) used in the construction of urban environments.
