Abstract

Hatred of Ukrainian refugees has arisen among some Roma people in the Czech Republic, fuelled now by pro-Russian so-called "patriots" who, paradoxically, until recently racially hated the Roma. Roma activist Jozef Miker has appealed to the Roma community to free themselves of their obsession with Ukrainians, and has earned himself ostracism from some Roma people. But in this Britské Listy Interview, he explains what may be motivating this Roma antipathy towards foreigners. When will top Czech politicians go to Romani communities to talk to them about this? When will Prime Minister Petr Fiala go among the Roma?
