Abstract
Much has been written about project-based learning as a means of motivating and engaging students, but there is rather less literature on how language can be effectively focused on and taught within a project-based framework. Using the context of adult ESOL programmes in the Scottish further education sector, this presentation aimed to demonstrate that a project-based approach to language teaching can create an environment that facilitates language teaching techniques which actually tie in with many current and popular beliefs about second language acquisition.
