Abstract

With image-to-text character recognition now possible, this paper presents a speculative design of handwritten text recognition (HTR): asking what impact it may have on the historical method in the near-future? Through this speculative approach, we present a minimal design for the development of HTR, using evidence collected from a grounded theory study.
