Abstract
Ultrasonic devices can be used to achieve motion, agitate materials, and seal containers in space, using established techniques. They can also be used to facilitate exploration by fluidizing granular materials and facilitating drill processes. This chapter will review the mechanisms by which important metrics, such as power consumption and weight-on-bit, can be improved through applied vibration.
