Abstract
A unique study which considers the role of private corporate actors within the deep seabed mining regime. Assesses the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) deep seabed regime from an international investment law perspective. Determines that there are contractor rights within the UNCLOS regime broadly equivalent to investment protection rights. Distils the common heritage concept down into its key components in the modern-day deep seabed mining context.
