Abstract
Drawing on a range of geographically diverse sources, this essay aims at first providing a contextualized overview of what linguistic colonization is, and how it has shaped power relations in areas that were subjected to it. It will explore how Eurocentrism has impacted Indigenous languages, provide different perspectives on interculturality and interculturalidadand finally, detail current efforts to restore Indigenous languages within specific communities. From these efforts, this paper ends by looking at their possible implications in both theory and practice in educational contexts, with a specific focus in Chile.
