Abstract
While the field of Organization Studies (OS) has long had an interest in language, it has so far neglected to examine how the coexistence of multiple languages shapes organizational practices and processes. To address this omission, we bring together the perspective of Communicative Constitution of Organization (CCO) with the vibrant field of language-sensitive IB research to propose ways in which linkages between languages and organizing can be theoretically framed and empirically investigated. Our aim is to extend and develop current research on the dynamics associated with multiple languages in organizations by leveraging language-sensitive IB studies to shed light on issues of particular interest to OS research. We propose that fruitful strands of investigation in order to bring languages into OS include organizational identities, diversity, and translation.
