Abstract

Endoscopic ultrasound radial array transducers were fabricated using PZT ceramic tubes by a rotate-and-dice method. 50-element 14 MHz and 100-element 3 MHz radial array transducers have been fabricated and characterized with a pulse-echo response measurement. It was found that both transducers exhibit reasonably good performance. The −6 dB bandwidth of these two array transducers was found to be 46% and 56%, respectively. Besides, the insertion loss of the transducers was found to be 26 dB and 32 dB, respectively. The results show that the rotate-and-dice method is an effective way to fabricate radial array transducers for various applications.
