Abstract
Over the last two decades Brazilian researchers have discussed different impacts of music education in social projects, outlining the need for further research. This chapter interrogates some impacts of music education in two social projects in the state of Santa Catarina. Both projects provide musical activities for children and adolescents in a situation of social vulnerability. Analysis of data from 46 former students, teachers, parents and coordinators focuses on personal, musical and social benefits as experienced by participants. The chapter suggests issues for further study and contributes to the reflective landscape on the impacts of music education in such projects.
