Abstract

This chapter provides the information on location, technique, choice and volume of anesthetics, and caution of pudendal nerve block – electrostimulation technique, pudendal nerve block – blind approach, and castration in perineum and testicle of equine. In geldings and stallions, blocking the pudendal and caudal rectal nerves desensitizes the anus, perineum, penis, and internal lamina of the prepuce. Blocking the pudendal nerves at the ischium desensitizes the penis and internal lamina of the prepuce. Local anesthesia of the skin, cremaster, and spermatic cord is employed for castration of standing horses.
