Abstract

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala assures us that his government is the best in everything. But is this really the case? In this interview, we talk about the scandal connected with the giant Turów opencast coal mine on the Czech border, about which Fiala's government has struck a dubious deal with the ruling Polish far-right government. This deal will probably result in local communities losing their water - not to mention the folly of mining huge amounts of coal for many years to come, destroying the environment. What kind of agreements is the Prime Minister making on behalf of Czech citizens elsewhere? Jan Čulík talks to Nikol Krejčová, Greenpeace's coal expert, about the questionable nature of the Turów agreement. The interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalnitelevize.cz from 29th March 2022.
