Abstract
This video is offered as a research output generated through the COVID teaching context, which involved a mass migration of teaching materials to the online environment. It explores the concept of the scholarly video essay within film and television studies, adopting the voiceover-led style that dominates academic videographic criticism. The video forms part of a trilogy of teaching-as-research outputs, also involving 'Audiovisual Criticism and Film History' and 'Audiovisual Criticism and Cosmpolitanism'. It was included in Sight and Sound's 2021 best video essay poll.
