Abstract
Why a collection on neglected virtues? A simple and obvious answer is that there are important virtues ignored in contemporary ethical theory that are due investigation. Another obvious answer is that reflecting on virtues that have received less attention provides a good opportunity to explore what makes something a virtue in the first place. However, deeper answers reveal themselves when we ask: Why have certain virtues been neglected? Those answers take us to important issues in ethical theory to be discussed presently.
