Abstract

Weather extremes have recently caused catastrophic floods in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Some areas in the Czech Republic have been also affected by floods. Destructive floods have also affected New Zealand and China and the north western parts of the United States and Canada have been suffering from extreme heat waves and wildfires. Siberia is also affected by wildfires. It is urgent to take effective actions against the global warming. However, the activists of the Czech environmental organisation The Earth's Children (Děti Země) are like Cassandra - no one listens to them. Jan Čulík interviews Miroslav Patrik, the Chair of this organisation. The interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalnitelevize.cz on 20th July 2021.
