Abstract

Pain is a frequent dental complaint and pulpitis is one of the commonest causes. Effective management of dental pain should be based on an understanding of the underlying biological mechanisms. This article aims to review the basic mechanisms of dental pain and of inflammation and to describe approaches for the treatment of dental pain.
