Abstract
Despite the massive amount of knowledge that has accumulated about p53, there is still much to learn about its role in tumor suppression. New papers now provide evidence that levels of Mdm2 in humans or presence of mutant forms of p53 in mice can have profound impacts on survival and tumorigenesis. These findings may lead to new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to treating cancer patients.
