Abstract

The Darwin project aims to explore the integration of satellite communications (satcom) into the fifth generation mobile (5G) ecosystem with a focus on Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs). This report covers the Regulatory Environment and its impact on CAVs in the selected industry vertical markets for the Darwin Project. It charts and defines the regulatory status in three main areas of Darwin’s technical and business operations: 1) terrestrial and satellite communication for 5G, 2) CAVs, 3) data regulations. The University of Glasgow has prepared this document for project Darwin as part of their collaboration with ESA.
