Abstract
The Darwin project aims to explore the integration of satellite communications (satcom) into the fifth generation mobile (5G) ecosystem with a focus on Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs). The aim of this report is to map the key capabilities of the main actors and technologies that would comprise a satcom/5G ‘ecosystem’. This includes the need to collect, organise, and analyse information about the different business models currently used by the likely actors in such an ecosystem, their patterns, and potential interactions. The report consists of four sections: 1) Ecosystem Structure, 2) Ecosystem Economics and Competitive Landscape, 3) Business Plan, 4) Ecosystem Model.
