Abstract

A second season of excavations was undertaken at Castle Law, Forgandenny fort between April 2nd and 18th 2014 as part of the Strathearn Environs and Royal Forteviot (SERF) project. Three trenches were excavated. The trench over the inner enclosure revealed the outer face to survive over 1.4m in height and the substantial amount of rubble recorded shows that it once stood much higher. The explorations of the bank surrounding the summit demonstrated that the bank comprised a variety of materials and was rebuilt at least three times. Within the interior of the bank there was only very ephemeral evidence for occupation or structural remains.
