Abstract

Minority groups receive poorer health care outcomes compared to the general population (3,4,5). Medical students familiar with minority groups and their individual needs will positively impact the care outcomes of minority groups (6). The BMA (7), GMC (8) and our University (9) all state that diversity and equality should be promoted when teaching, and we set out to find if this statement was followed through in a small but busy section of the curriculum. We found that of the characteristics examined, only apparent sex was well-represented.
