Abstract
Technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and algorithms have a growing impact on how our society and worlds of work are organised and function. This paper aims to examine inequality and marginalisation in the digital age and challenges how the emphasis on technological innovations in the future of work could overlook issues that persist in the opportunity structure of societal institutions and the global economy. This paper focuses on the impact of increased precarity and insecurity of work on marginalised young people, and thereby question how future imaginings of work and skills may reinforce deep-rooted exclusions of the most disadvantaged in society.
