Abstract

This paper proposes that Jopling’s journalistic writings for became an extension of the social space of her studio, her art school and club life through which she demonstrated her commitment to creating new spaces for female creativity, debate and self-improvement. Jopling looked to the press to provide a platform for her views and promote a socially and intellectually engaged model of the woman artist.
