Abstract

Patients should be offered to switch from ergot-derived dopamine agonists to non-ergot-derived dopamine agonists. Where patients remain on these drugs, they should be screened and monitored for fibrotic complications, bearing in mind that the absence of symptoms may be false reassurance. The drugs should be withdrawn if pulmonary fibrosis or cardiac valve disease occurs.
