Abstract

This essay examines the Scottish monarchy's ongoing interest in Irish affairs a century and half after the unsuccessful Bruce Invasions (1315-18). The essay pays particular attention to how developments in the Gaelic-speaking west impacted upon English and Scottish affairs during this period.
