Abstract
This paper examines European and North American studies of gay men's sexual decision‐making in terms of differences in theory, methodology, the construction of the psychological subject and the social context. Both intra‐ and inter‐subjective paradigms are discussed and the contribution of each is assessed in terms of health interventions.
