Abstract

Jan Čulík interviews Ivan Kytka, the well-known Czech journalist. After working for the Czech News Agency and Czech public service television, Ivan Kytka worked for the Czech Service of the BBC and then for the BBC World Service. In this interview, he compares his work for the BBC with his work for the Czech media and points to the fact that Czech media are seriously underfunded, perhaps intentionally, so that the cannot conduct proper investigative work and are thus unable to hold politicians to account. This problem is particularly acute with regard to public service Czech Television. The interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalni televize from Friday 16th November 2018.
