Abstract

Study overview: A series of three surveys were carried out on the topic of adolescents and youth sexual and reproductive health in Rwanda. Data collection took place across 6 districts of Rwanda: Gicumbi, Kirehe, Nyaruguru, Rusizi, Karongi and Muhanga. A multi-stage cluster survey was conducted among a representative sample of 1’305 young people (15-24) who were interviewed in their households and within boarding schools (to ensure young people living away from home were accounted for in this study). The other two surveys were carried out among a random sample of 150 health professionals and a convenient sample of 150 community health workers. Data collection took place from May to July 2014 with a team of 39 experienced surveyors. With the support of electronic tablets (Open Data Kit (ODK)), all interviews were carried out in Kinyarwanda and French.
