Abstract

Jan Culik was interviewed by the English service of Radio France Internationale on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. In the interview, he describes his experiences of the invasion as a fifteen-year-old. He testifies about the extraordinary feeling of euphoria which seized the Czechs and Slovaks after the invasion due to the absolute unity of the nation in defiance against the invaders, unity which was coordinated by heroic clandestine radio broadcasters, the celebrities of the previous 1968 Prague Spring.
