Abstract

A study of first demonstration of thermal poling in holey fibers (HF) was performed. It was seen that endlessly single mode HF designs allowed the overlap between interacting modes at various wavelength to be optimized. This was used for improvement of second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiencies relative to conventional poled fibers. Electro-optic measurements were carried out inorder to assess the actual value of nonlinearity using a standard heterodyne Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
