Abstract

We briefly review our recent technique for estimating the distance to open clusters from measurements of the rotational modulation of fast-rotating late-type cluster members. We then consider the application of this statistical technique to clusters of known distance, and investigate how the observed distribution of D sin i estimates can be used to place statistical limits on the surface distribution of starspots.
