Abstract

J-Lay method is one of the most advanced methods for deep sea pipeline installation. Parametric sensitivity analysis of pipelines during J-Lay installation can help understand technical difficulties of J-Lay method and evaluate the safety. With the application of analytical calculation method and finite element method, the static and dynamic contrastive analysis of pipeline is conducted. The law and extent of pipeline mechanical response with different installation condition and ocean environment parameters are compared and summarized. The results of the analysis are shown that the top zone and touchdown region are the most important region during J-Lay installation; water depth and departure angles can make great effects on pipeline mechanical property and the departure angle parameter should be under accurate control.
