Abstract

In this paper, the statistical distribution of amplitude of the ultra wideband (UWB) radio channel for body-centric wireless communications is being investigated by considering a large number of on-body radio links. Amplitude distribution is investigated by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Akaike criterion. Analysis demonstrated that above the 92% of the times the channel amplitudes (which includes ground reflections as well) for the on-body propagation, still have lognormal distribution. Apart from amplitude distribution statistics, the power delay profile and some distribution parameters are being estimated for line-of-sight (LOS) scenario as well. Based on the results presented in this paper, clear recommendations are given for best statistical distribution for accurate UWB on-body radio channel modeling.
