Abstract

This paper presents the radio channel characterisation for ultra wideband off-body communications in two different environments (i.e., anechoic chamber and indoor environment). More than one hundered receiver locations are considered on the body with respect to an access point away from the body. Path loss characterisation is presented for different sectors of the body instead of considering it for whole body, in order to get a closer insight into the path loss variations. Moreover, statistical analysis is also performed on path loss and time delay parameters to find the best distribution fitting. It is observed that the path loss is best modelled by using normal distribution; whereas the log-normal distribution provides the best fit for the time delay parameters for off-body communications.
