Abstract

Arrays of waveguides coupled by their evanescent fields are regarded as promising candidates for all optical signal switching, routing and steering applications. Furthermore, they are the most prominent example for discreteness in optics, sharing common features with other discrete systems of completely different physical origin. In what follows we experimentally demonstrate how the distinct dynamical features of discrete optical systems can be used to guide light into a desired output position.
