Abstract

Extraction of the liverwort Nardia scalaris afforded an acidic diterpenoid, characterised as its methyl ester, which has been shown by chemical and spectroscopic methods to be (14R)-ent-kaur-16-en-14-yl hydrogen malonate (1).
