Abstract

Two partially acylated sugar derivatives, 3',6-di-O-acetyl-2,3,4-tri-O-(3-methylpentanoyl)sucrose (1) and 2,3,4-tri-O-(3-methylpentanoyl)-α-D-glucopyranose (2), have been isolated from Chilean Salpiglossis sinuata and their structures assigned on the basis of their 1H and 13C n.m.r. spectra. The positions of attachment of the different esters in (1) were established using 2D long-range δC/δH correlation experiments.
